HOW A LIVE VIDEO MIXER WORKS

Cue on two decks. Blend to one output.

A live video mixer keeps your next visual ready before the audience sees it. ELYWARE Video Mixer separates preparation from output so you can make changes without exposing the controls.

    Load media

Drag files or whole folders onto either deck. Search Pixabay stock video for royalty-free clips, or use your own video and image playlists.

  2. 2

    Cue and blend

Preview each deck, choose a transition, then move the crossfader manually or use Auto Mix.

  3. 3

    Send the show

Open the dedicated output window and move it to a projector, TV or second monitor.

SUPPORTED MEDIA

Videos, images and animated GIFs.

Video Mixer recognizes MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V, OGV and MKV video files, plus JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP and TIFF images. The stock browser adds royalty-free Pixabay clips that download and cache locally.

Actual video playback depends on the codecs supported by your system browser or WebKit. Test your exact show files first.

PRIVACY

Your media stays on your machine.

The mixer reads your files locally and serves them only to the app running on your own computer. There is no login, media upload or telemetry. The stock video feature sends search queries to Pixabay's public API. Downloaded clips are cached on your machine.

Custom transition files can execute code inside the mixer. Install custom transitions only from people you trust.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Video Mixer FAQ

Is ELYWARE Video Mixer free?

Yes. Video Mixer v4.1 is a free public beta with no account, subscription, watermark or telemetry.

What does a live video mixer do?

A live video mixer lets you cue visual media on separate decks and blend between them in real time. ELYWARE Video Mixer plays local videos, images and stock clips, applies transitions and sends the final mix to a separate display or projector window.

Does Video Mixer work on Mac, Windows and Linux?

Yes. Mac users get a self-contained universal app for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 11 or later. The Windows and Linux editions require Python 3 and a modern browser.

Why does macOS say the developer cannot be verified?

The public beta is integrity-checked but not yet signed with an Apple Developer ID or notarized. Download it only from elyware.net, then right-click the app and choose Open. You can also approve it under System Settings, Privacy & Security.

Does Video Mixer upload my media?

No. Your own media files are read locally and never leave your computer. The stock video feature sends search queries to Pixabay's public API to find royalty-free clips. Those clips download to a local cache folder on your machine.

What is the stock video browser?

The Stock tab on each deck searches Pixabay for royalty-free video clips. You provide your own free Pixabay API key. Clips download and cache locally before they can play, so they work like any other local video file once cached.

Can Video Mixer record or stream the finished mix?

Not currently. The v4.1 public beta is for live playback, transitions and projector output. It does not record, export or stream video.

Can I use it with a projector or second monitor?

Yes. Open the dedicated Output Window, move it to the projector or second display, and switch that window to full screen. Your mixer controls remain on the main screen.
